Shelling with Shannon; join us at FitLifeTravel as we take you on a treasure hunt adventure searching for shells, sand dollars, and other treasures of the sea! We hope you enjoy this series and get inspired to learn more about marine life and other unique landscapes along with learning how to protect our precious ocean waters!

The adventures include kayaking to Shell Key and shelling on the island. But this adventure will not go as smooth as we planned, as we ended up a little lost in the gulf.
Enjoy this thrilling treasure hunt for shark teeth and other earth’s gems at Caspersen Beach in Venice, Florida. The fossilized shark teeth usually appear black in color and very shiny when you find them.

Our exploration of Sanibel Island in Fort Myers was interesting as we spent most of the time driving around searching for a place to park. Parking is very limited and is a fee per hour cost. Some of the beautiful shells we found at Sanibel Island include Sand Dollars, Kitten Paws, Lightening Whelk, Dosnia, and others! Notice my Wander Club Chain photo bombing my shells!

Anna Maria Island is always a joy and the gems and creatures we found here are quite fun and interesting!

So, sit back, relax and click on the posts for some happy shelling!

Caspersen Beach, Venice Florida
Shelling at Caspersen Beach in Venice is always a blast! The sea treasures are beautiful and you will definitely find a variety of shells and other items. The shark teeth are a little more difficult to find later in the day, however, the best time to find the shark teeth is in the mornings.

Seashells from Panama
After recently visiting with my family in Texas, we spent some time culling and going through their shell collection. Some of these shell designs and characteristics are so unique I just had to share them with you. My mother and father in law have traveled and lived around the world. They lived in the Philippines and spent some time in Panama. Please enjoy these beautiful amazing seashells! Seashells from Panama, I love shelling.

As some of you may or may not know, some of the most beautiful beaches in Panama offer some fantastic shelling opportunities. Now these seashells make great art and decoration!

Best Beachcombing North Shore Oahu Hawaii
Although one might find most sea shells on the island of Kauai, there are other opportunities to find shells in Oahu as well. After spending the morning at the North Shore beaches, the puka shells seem to be the most abundant of any other types of shells. Another encounter we made was finding the violet sea snail. This one is a beauty! But of course, the little jellyfish like creature living in the shell left me with only taking a photo.

Here are a few other types of shells I found while beachcombing the best shell beaches Oahu.
