Setting Goals
Let’s begin with a few fitness and exercise topics. One of the first things I do is take the time to create goals and write them down.Goals might range from weight loss and cardio or simply building strength and stamina to successfully conquer a challenging hiking trail. I found a few wonderful resources to help you attain your goals as explained further below.
Tools
In order to help you reach your weight loss goals, the workout calculator will assist you to promptly estimate your total caloric burn rate for a combination of up to 20 different exercises. There are numerous exercises to choose from including biking, walking the dog, and even kayaking! For more specific and detailed results, there is the body fat calculator. This calculator will estimate your body fat. It calculates lean body mass (LBM), fat body mass (FBM), body fat percent and body classification.

Simple exercises you can even do outdoors. There are many techniques and movements that can burn and carve your body that you won’t even recognize you. There’s no excuse!
Cooking

Cooking at home can be one of the most rewarding and nutritional things to do during these challenging times. There are so many recipes out there that it can be overwhelming. I look for easy, tasty, and healthy meal recipes. But then you may desire delicious recipes that entail slightly more preparation and detail. So here is another tool I find to be very helpful for ingredient conversion.
Home Projects
My family just recently moved across country, and the home we moved into needs a little bit of work. So, we are taking the opportunity now and maximizing the stay at home rule and getting a few projects done. Here is a list of what we’ve done so far, just to name a few.
- Steam cleaned floors
- Power washed pavers in the back patio and front driveway.
- Sanded pavers and sealed all of them.
- Ordered new tires for the bikes
- Pruned and trimmed trees
- Hung all the artwork on the interior walls
Family Time and Activity At Home
Life in our new world now is certainly full of “home” time. Meaning, everyone else in the family is home bound as well. This can be a special moment in time to reconnect with your loved ones. I found a few informative resources that will help keep you and the family stay entertained and engaged!
Ideas include playing a card game, reading a book, meditating, and more tips here. Or you might be someone who is looking for more relaxing things to do at home. These include yoga, sleeping, or coloring and painting.
Mental Attitude
The key is really all about your attitude. If you are feeling a little down and frustrated, you are not alone. But your tone and outlook do not have to be a negative one. The mind is a powerful tool during tough times. Our challenge to you is to use that beautiful mind to your advantage. Create the situations you desire and visualize them. Imagine yourself in those environments.
There are several books available that offer numerous suggestions on how to change your attitude and way of thinking, etc. This is what I found in my research and these books I have read as well.
Suggested books:
- ‘Ask and It Is Given” by Esther Hicks and Jerry Hicks
- “Awaken the Giant Within” by Tony Robbins
- “Zen Golf” by Joseph Parent
Here is a list of books for training the brain to over achieve.
