Ah, yes, the typical most common gift of all for the special day of love! Valentine’s Day isn’t just about flowers and candy. The history of Valentine’s Day—and the story of its patron saint, is masked in mystery as I learn while I do my research on this very popular topic. There is one thing we certainly know, is that February has long been celebrated as a month of romance. Additionally, St. Valentine’s Day, as we know it today, contains remnants of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition. But do you know who was Saint Valentine is?

Now that I’ve peaked your interest and you are so anxiously awaiting more details. My research explains that there may be a couple different origins of Valentine’s Day. One story is that it may be the mourning of Valentine’s death or burial. The history of St. Valentine varies and stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons. The other tale is that is that the church held a feast day in the middle of the month to celebrate St. Valentine. Meanwhile, as much as you enjoy the enlightenment of Valentine’s Day, I will just leave you with some brilliant sets of flowers to enjoy!
